Supervision

A space to bring clinical situations that you are unsure about,  sessions that didn't go as planned, clients you feel stuck with, or simply reflections about your practice.

A space to reflect on your practice

Supervision is, above all, a space to step back and reflect. Together, we will try to understand what is happening, rather than immediately looking for “the right answer”.

Looking at the situation from different angles, we might explore:

  • what is happening for your client;

  • what is happening for you within the relationship;

  • what is happening between you;

  • the interventions you chose and why;

  • the emotions or reactions that the relationship brings up;

  • the wider context in which you are working;

  • ethical, professional or organisational considerations.

Looking at a situation from these different perspectives can sometimes help us see it differently. What initially felt like a dead end can become useful information about the relationship, your client, or what is happening for you.

And what about you?

For me, supervision isn't only about thinking about the client.

Your own experience is part of the therapeutic relationship. We can therefore also take time to explore what affects you, what you find difficult, what frustrates or worries you, or what leaves you feeling uncertain. The aim isn't to judge your reactions, but to understand what they might be telling us.

Supervision can therefore be a space to develop your confidence, sharpen your clinical thinking, reflect on your interventions and take care of yourself within your practice.

What can you bring to supervision?

You might come with:

  • a complex clinical situation;

  • a therapeutic relationship in which you feel stuck;

  • emotions or reactions that you are questioning;

  • doubts about an intervention;

  • ethical questions;

  • difficulty setting boundaries;

  • a feeling of “I don't know what to do here”;

  • or simply a desire to step back and reflect on your practice.
